A bookkeeper records what happened. An accountant lodges the return. Both can be doing their jobs perfectly well while nobody in the arrangement is paid to sit down and tell you what any of it means.
So the reports get sent, and filed, and not opened. And you keep running a business you can't see the shape of. Pricing on instinct, hiring on hope, and finding out in July whether the year worked.
That's not a discipline problem. Nobody ever handed you the numbers in a form you could use.

Revenue is the number you can recite. This is the other one. Real profit, what it costs you to earn a dollar, and how much of the year's work you still have to show for.
Which parts of the business make money
Margin by service line, as far as your data will carry it. Most founders discover at least one thing they've been doing enthusiastically at a loss.
What you paid yourself, against what you should have
Including the superannuation you skipped, and what it would actually take for the business to pay you properly.

You're charging too little

The numbers can't be trusted yet
Sometimes the finding is that the file won't carry a decision. Then it's bookkeeping first, and everything else after.
Questions
I already have a bookkeeper and an accountant. Why would I need this?
Because neither of them is paid to tell you what your numbers mean. A bookkeeper records what happened. An accountant lodges the return. Both can be doing their job perfectly while you still have no idea whether you're profitable or which parts of the business are carrying the rest.
Do I have to change bookkeepers?
No. The Health Check is a one-off. You keep your bookkeeper, your accountant and your software. We read the file you already have.
What if my file is a mess?
Then that's the finding, and it's worth knowing. If the data's too poor to draw conclusions from we'll tell you plainly and quote the cleanup separately, rather than building a report on numbers that can't carry it.
Is this a sales pitch for something bigger?
It's a paid piece of work that stands on its own. You get the report whether or not you ever work with us again. If the findings point at something we offer, we'll say so once and leave it with you.
How long does it take?
